NC State and N.C. Cooperative Extension has developed a special course designed for food employees seeking a Person-In-Charge (PIC) certification. This certificate meets the Environmental Health Department’s requirements and helps to provide needed points on an establishment’s inspection score.
Safe Plates is based on the Conference for Food Protection standards and the NC Food Code. Certification is based on passing a CFP-ANSI accredited exam from the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals and is valid in the United States for five years.
The 10-module Safe Plates course contains with 12 hours of instruction and includes a training book, study packet and the proctored certification test.
The Safe Plates Food Safety Manager Certification course differs from other certification courses because it uses case studies, storytelling, activities and discussion to teach safe food handling practices. These classes are interactive and encourage the food safety managers to engage with the material and share with their staff members.
N.C. Cooperative Extension here in Brunswick County will offer a Safe Plates Food
Safety Manager Certification course on October 28 and November 4. Details can be
