On May 20, 2025 a local high school senior known for her tireless volunteer efforts has just been awarded the Glenda Ansley Memorial Teen Court College Scholarship, recognizing not only academic excellence but also an exceptional commitment to community service and volunteerism. The scholarship is given every year by the Kiwanis Club of Southport-Oak Island.

Keona Warren awarded the Glenda Ansley Memorial Teen Court College Scholarship

Keona Warren, a senior at South Brunswick High School, was named this year’s recipient of the Glenda Ansley Memorial Teen Court College Scholarship, an award given to one student who demonstrates Academic Achievement, Leadership and a strong sense of civic duty.

Keona has been a student volunteer in the Brunswick County Teen Court program for the last two years. She has been a Teen Court prosecutor and Defense Attorney as well as a mentor and leader to the upcoming student volunteers.

The Glenda Ansley Memorial Teen Court College Scholarship, covers $1,500 per year for 4 years will allow Kenoa to attend William & Mary University this fall, where she plans to major in Criminal Justice.

Teen Court Director, Sam Davis, praised Keona’s dedication. “Keona is the kind of student who inspires those around her. She leads by example, always putting others first and never seeking recognition. This scholarship is a fitting reward for her hard work, leadership and dedication to her community.”

Director Davis also stated that he wanted to thank the Kiwanis Club of Southport-Oak Island for their dedication and support of the Brunswick County Teen Court Program.
