Building My Body Program

 Building My Body with Virginia Williamson 3rd Graders! 

Last week, and Thursday/Friday of this week, our 3rd graders were wrapping up Lesson 4  of the Building My Body 4-H EFNEP program!

This week, students learned all about Vitamins (A & C), Minerals (calcium), and Water.  We discovered that water is the best choice for building a healthy body! We explored where to find vitamins and minerals on a nutrition facts label and learned the importance of increasing good nutrients like vitamins and minerals, while decreasing things like saturated fat, sodium, and added sugar.

We even did a fun experiment—checking how much added sugar is in the drinks we drink every day! The excitement didn't stop there!  We combined exercise and a taste test by using a Blender Bike. Students got to pedal and help make a healthy, delicious smoothie, giving energy to Mrs. Angie and the bike to get those wheels turning!
