Turn Off Turfgrass Irrigation in Preparation for Fall

(Updated: Sept. 22, 2021, 11:32 a.m.)

As we transition into fall, an important action is to turn off your turfgrass irrigation.  This helps the grass begin to go dormant. Grass growing during the Fall transition season with daytime temperatures in the 70’s and nighttime temperatures often in the low 30’s can be cold damaged.  Dormant grass is preferable to dead grass.
