TiLT Overview

To highlight our Teens in Leadership Training (TiLT) program, we're spotlighting some of our current and former volunteers, learning about their involvement in the program, and seeing how their experience has continued to impact them. Brunswick County 4-H TiLT youth volunteer teaching program trains youth volunteers ages 13-18, to deliver in-school, after-school, and summer programs that teach healthy living, STEM, good stewardship, and environmental awareness of the resources in Brunswick County. See our 4-H Teens in Leadership Training page for more information about the program.

When did you serve in TiLT?

2013-2018.

What is your favorite memory from serving as a TiLT volunteer?
One of my favorite memories serving as a TiLT volunteer was the summer of 2018. We volunteered at Camp Brunswick and those kids stole my heart, the next summer I worked there on staff!

How did volunteering with TiLT help you when choosing a college or career path?
I am currently a senior at Appalachian State University. I am majoring in religious studies and minoring in leadership studies. I plan on going into youth ministry. My passion for encouraging young people to be their best self rooted from my time in TiLT and 4-H as a whole!

One more question! Tell us a little bit about you, now! What are you doing and where are you? What are your future plans, etc...
I am currently a senior at Appalachian State University. After college I plan on furthering my education in biblical studies. My end goal is to be a youth minister!
