Free Wellness Classes With EFNEP Coming to Leland Library

Families in Brunswick County are invited to participate in a free six-week wellness program offered through the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) at the Leland Library this fall.

Classes will run on Saturdays from October 4 through November 22, 10:00–11:30 AM at the Leland Library, 487 Village Rd NE, Leland, NC. The interactive sessions are designed to help families build healthier habits together through hands-on learning.

Each week, participants will:
  • Learn nutrition tips and meal planning strategies
  • Prepare or taste a healthy recipe
  • Stay active with fun activities
  • Explore ways to save money on groceries
Graduates who attend at least 75% of the classes, complete pre- and post-surveys, and a 24-hour food recall will receive a Certificate of CompletionKitchen Skill-Builders, and the EFNEP Playbook/Cookbook to continue their healthy lifestyle journey at home.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for parents, caregivers, and families to learn and grow together,” said Angie Lawrence, EFNEP Nutrition Educator with N.C. Cooperative Extension – Brunswick County. “Our goal is to make nutrition education practical, fun, and accessible for everyone.”

Who Can Join:
  • Adults with children in the home
  • Teachers, preschool staff, and caregivers
  • Families are welcome – youth ages 8–18 may participate alongside parents
Pre-registration is required, and class size is limited to 20 participants. After registering, participants will complete a short intake with the instructor before the series begins.
