Brunswick County Teen Court currently has the position of Teen Court Assistant available.
Direct Supervisor: Teen Court Director
Location: Brunswick County Courthouse
Basic Function: To assist with the Teen Court Program in compliance with required guidelines and regulations of the NC Department of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, North Carolina Cooperative Extension and the Brunswick County District Attorney’s Office.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Associate degree with two years of related experience in human services and criminal justice. Must have experience in working with youth, parents, law enforcement, public school system and various county and state agencies and knowledge of the judicial and law enforcement system. Skills needed are record keeping, must be computer proficient, flexible, resourceful, organized, and self-directed.
Salary Range: Part-time 40 hours per month (10 hours per week) at $14.00 per hour.
Specific Duties: Teen Court Program
- Maintain all needed forms and paperwork.
- Maintain records for evaluation.
- Must be extremely organized.
- Update records and files on program participants.
- Process all required paperwork and reports on time.
- Assist in recruiting and training community volunteers and teen jury.
- Assist with parenting education/support group.
- Establish a working relationship with county and state officials.
- Assist with necessary materials for marketing.
- Prepare press releases and network with media for public relations.
- Perform other related duties as necessary.
Training: The Teen Court Assistant will complete 12 hours of continuing education and training per fiscal year.
