This summer, Brunswick County 4-H youth spent a week at Betsy Jeff Penn 4-H Center for Residential Camp. From Sunday through Friday, campers took part in a variety of outdoor, educational, and recreational activities while experiencing the traditions of 4-H camp.

Throughout the week, youth were able to step outside of their comfort zones, try new activities, and work alongside other 4-H members. Campers developed skills in teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and leadership while also gaining confidence and independence from spending a week away from home.

Campers stayed busy throughout the week with activities including rock climbing, swimming, canoeing, and fishing. Whether climbing to new heights, spending time on the water, or learning more about the outdoors, campers had opportunities to challenge themselves and experience activities they may not have the chance to participate in every day. They also enjoyed spending time together, meeting new friends, and creating memories throughout their week at camp.

For many of the Brunswick County campers, the week was filled with first-time experiences, new friendships, and plenty of time outdoors. The experiences and memories made at Betsy Jeff Penn will be a part of their 4-H journey long after the week at camp has ended.
