The workshop starts at 9 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m. We start off with introductions and providing an outline of the activities of the workshop. We then take a walk through local forest stands where we will have discussions of products that the stand can make as well as harvesting and regeneration. We invite the NC Forest Service, consulting foresters, loggers and buyers of timber and logs to put out promotional literature for educational purposes. Industry professionals will lead the discussions on the forest walks. We plan to have a demonstration of sawing logs on a portable sawmill and splitting firewood on a firewood processor at each workshop.
