Auditor (Energy Auditor) – Defined

A building scientist who evaluates the energy efficiency and health & safety of a building and identifies areas for savings by gathering empirical data, conducting tests and using energy modeling software, in order to reduce the energy consumption, improve the safety, and increase the lifespan of a building; while improving the quality of life and comfort for building occupants. Finding and Selecting Energy Conservation Professionals

Audit – An assessment of a home’s energy use. These include a number of different types of surveys, including (in increasing order of cost and complexity): online audits, in-home home energy surveys and comprehensive home energy audits.
