Help us celebrate NC Crunch Day by biting into an apple with us tomorrow. Every year the Farm to School Coalition of North Carolina organizes a day in which we all can crunch into one of our most famous, fall fruits, the apple. Across North Carolina, kids and adults will be crunching an apple that is available from a local farm in October. This event is about uniting together to celebrate North Carolina agriculture, National Farm to School and Early Care and Education month, apples grown by local farmers, and healthy eating. Everyone is invited to participate.

The North Carolina Crunch promotes healthy eating and supports farm to school and other local food purchasing initiatives throughout the state. It’s also a fun way to connect food and agriculture to all kinds of classroom curricula – from science to art. Of course, if you are unable to participate on October 21st or exactly at noon, we still encourage you to plan a Crunch event anytime during October’s National Farm to School Month festivities.

We also have several resources you can use to celebrate apples on NC Crunch Day. Try out one of these apple activities or recipes below.
