Summer Canning Classes!

Interested in learning how to preserve your fresh summer veggies? Whether you grow them at home or you buy them fresh from the market, canning and preserving fresh food is a great way to continue reaping the benefits of summer produce throughout the cooler months. Coming in June, Brunswick County Cooperative Extension will be offering a four-week food preservation series with classes including “The Basics of Food Preservation”, “Pressure Canning”, “Jams & Jellies”, and “Pickling”.

These hands-on classes will meet:

  • Thursday, June 8th Introductory Class (mandatory for taking any of the other three classes)
  • Thursday June 15th  – Jams and Jellies
  • Thursday June 22nd  – Pressure Canning
  • Thursday June 29thPickles.

Each class will meet from 2:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m.. All classes are to be held at the N.C. Cooperative Extension Office located at 25 Referendum Drive, Bolivia, NC 28422, Building N (Brunswick County Government Complex).

Participants can attend one or all of these classes, but must register in advance. The fee is $10.00 per class or $32.00 for all four.
