April Is Child Abuse Prevention Month

runswick County Cooperative Extension and Brunswick County Department of Social Services are acknowledging Child Abuse Prevention Month for April 2016 with several events.

Campaign activities during April in recognition of National Child Abuse Prevention Month include a pinwheel garden by the walking trail at the County Complex and  a totally blue flower garden in front of the Cooperative Extension office. The pinwheels can be purchased to support the campaign for $1.00 each from Alicia Jenkins at the Extension office. The blue flower garden will be planted on April 27 at noon. Wear blue on April 8th and take and post your photos. Volunteers will be on hand April 6 at the Courthouse from 9 a.m. until noon, April 8th at the cafeteria from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. and April 15th at the Master Gardener plant sale to sell pinwheels for the walking trail and also on April 22nd at DSS. In support of local campaign efforts, educational materials for parents and advocates are available this month to prevent child abuse.
